Do you wish your community had greater mental health awareness? Become a Mental Illness & Recovery Workshop teacher! Share your lived experiences and knowledge to educate, support, and empower community members.

 

What's the Opportunity?

  • Teach NAMI Vermont's Mental Illness & Recovery (MIR) Workshop! This FREE one-day program is unique to NAMI Vermont and is designed for everyone: family, friends, community members, and individuals with mental health conditions.

  • Each MIR Workshop is co-taught by two NAMI Vermont-trained teachers. 

  • Improve your community's knowledge about common mental health conditions, treatment options, what recovery can look like, evidence-based practices in Vermont, and what resources are available locally.

 

Who Can Be a Teacher?

  • Teachers must have attended and graduated from a MIR Workshop. Workshops are usually held on Saturdays. Register for an upcoming workshop here!

  • Anyone with a mental health condition who is at a comfortable place in their recovery OR Anyone who is a family member of an individual with a mental health condition who is at a comfortable place in their recovery.

  • Anyone who has strong group facilitation and leadership skills.

 

What to Expect:

  • Meet other dedicated and empathetic people, just like you! 

  • Feel great about giving back to your community when they need you the most. 

  • Learn new things about mental health, suicide prevention, and more. 

  • Get all the materials and support you need from the NAMI Vermont office.

  • FREE one-day training provided by NAMI Vermont.

  • Commit to co-teaching at least one workshop per year for 2 years.
