Do you love supporting adults in meeting their educational and life goals?  Do you have teaching experience you’d like to put to good use?  Do you believe in serving your community?  If so, Vermont Adult Learning would love to hear from you!

 

We are currently seeking a Volunteer Computer Skills and Digital Literacy Teacher to offer a weekly computer class. Increasingly, our students access more and more of their needs via smartphones. We are finding that many need explicit instruction on how to use computers and their component parts, communicate using email, browse the internet safely, and evaluate the reliability of information found online.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

Two years prior experience as a teacher, professional trainer or tutor preferred

Knowledgeable about the basic parts of desktop and laptop computers (Mouse, power button, monitor, keyboard)

Confident using common Microsoft apps such as Word and Outlook

Confident using a wide range of Google apps, including Docs, Sheets, Gmail and Classroom

Knowledgeable about internet security and maintaining a safe online presence

Strong writing skills, including proficiency with formal workplace writing

Available to volunteer at least 4 hours a week on a regular, fixed schedule

Able to make at least a 6 month commitment to volunteering

Work readiness background a plus (resume development, cover letters, job search skills)

Experience working with English Language Learners a plus

Experience with differentiating instruction a plus
