Vermont Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired

Who We Are

Mission: To enable Vermonters whether blind or visually impaired, to be more independent, to cultivate adaptive skills and to improve their quality of life.

The Vermont Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired (VABVI) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering individuals with vision loss in Vermont. Established in 1926, VABVI provides comprehensive services and resources to help blind and visually impaired individuals live independently and improve their quality of life. Through personalized support and educational programs, VABVI works to ensure that individuals of all ages, from children to seniors, have access to the tools they need to thrive in their daily lives. The organization is committed to promoting inclusivity and helping individuals achieve their full potential despite visual impairments.

What We Do

VABVI maintains its mission by implementing a new Corporate Partnership program, developing a Communications Department, and creating the Leadership Circle Membership Program. These new establishments all have one goal – to raise awareness and funding for VABVI to continue enabling Vermonters with vision impairments to achieve everyday independence. Our Agency works with the blind and visually impaired to help them remain independent in their homes. We serve infants to elderly with services such as rehabilitation, low vision, and orientation and mobility. We have an all volunteer transportation program that helps them get to where they need to go, such as medical appointments, shopping, or running errands.
