Mission: To address the roots and impacts of crime and conflict so that everyone experiences dignity, safety, and justice in the communities we serve.
The Burlington Community Justice Center (BCJC) is a community-based organization dedicated to addressing the root causes of conflict and promoting restorative justice within the city of Burlington, Vermont. Founded to provide alternatives to traditional criminal justice processes, the BCJC works to create a more equitable and compassionate approach to justice. By focusing on restorative practices, the center facilitates dialogue and understanding between individuals, families, and communities affected by crime, harm, or conflict. Through its programs and services, BCJC seeks to reduce recidivism, empower individuals, and promote healing and reconciliation, creating safer and more resilient communities.
What We Do

- Programs Offered:
- Community Re-entry/COSA: Assists individuals reintegrating into the community after incarceration.
- Conflict Assistance Program: Provides mediation, conflict coaching, and workshops to equip individuals with skills for constructive conflict resolution.
- Court Diversion/RJ Panels: Offers alternative pathways to traditional court processes through restorative justice panels.
- Driving with License Suspended (DLS): Addresses issues related to driving with a suspended license.
- Noise Tickets: Manages cases involving noise violations.
- Pretrial Services: Supports individuals during the pretrial phase.
- Tamarack/Treatment Diversion: Provides diversion programs for individuals with substance use disorders.
- Victim Services: Offers support and resources for victims of crime.
- Youth Services: Engages youth in restorative practices and programs.
- YSASP: Youth Substance Abuse Support Program.
