The impact is profound. Families tell us these sails become treasured memories. Volunteers describe the joy of giving back and feeling part of something larger than themselves. Healthcare providers and referral partners consistently share that patients return from their sail with renewed hope, reduced stress, and a deeper sense of well-being.
Cancer does not discriminate - it touches people of all ages, backgrounds, and walks of life. Yet access to Lake Champlain and the joy of sailing is not equally shared by all in our community. Many of our passengers have never been on a sailboat or even on the Lake before stepping aboard with us. Through our work, we open up this extraordinary natural resource to those who might otherwise never have had the chance to experience it.
Our sails are available to anyone diagnosed with cancer - without financial barriers, age restrictions, or limitations based on background or circumstance. We actively collaborate with oncology clinics, cancer centers, social workers, and nonprofit partners to ensure that individuals from underserved, rural, or low-income communities are included and welcomed. This commitment to equitable access is core to our mission and something we are proud to expand upon each season.
