Who We Are

Mission: To bring to life and preserve the history of this intervale park, including the 1780’s Ethan Allen Homestead.

The Ethan Allen Homestead Museum is a community based museum right here in Burlington, Vermont…..Nestled in a beautiful park in the Winooski Valley Park District, The Ethan Allen Homestead.  We are a non-profit organization led by a group of dedicated volunteers with one paid staff as Manager. Ethan and Fanny’s last home is an historical site that allows us to bring to life the 18th century on the frontier as it was for the Allen’s and other families.

What We Do

We pursue our mission by providing tours suitable for all ages that relate the stories of Ethan Allen and his family as well as others who have lived and worked on this land. We nurture an environment of learning through lectures and special events.  And, by continuing to research our history, we make the story of life in the Homestead relevant to our own time.

Throughout our season, the Ethan Allen Homestead has hosted guests from fifty states and many other countries; those visitors who serve in the armed forces, National Guard or reservists receive free admission from Memorial Day to Labor Day due to our status as a Blue Star Museum. Additionally, the Homestead has hosted more than 250 students, from local fourth graders to students at Johnson State, who have spent a day touring the Allen House, as well as participating in frontier games and enrichment exercises to enhance their understanding of previous classroom learning.
