Who We Are
Mission: To clean the waters of northern Lake Champlain and its watershed by working collaboratively with citizens, businesses, farmers and government in order to reduce land-use pollution.
Friends of Northern Lake Champlain (FNLC) is a nonprofit organization focused on improving and protecting the water quality of Lake Champlain in northern Vermont. Founded to address the environmental challenges affecting the lake, FNLC works with local communities, businesses, and governments to reduce pollution and restore the lake’s ecological health. The organization focuses on mitigating runoff from agricultural lands, urban areas, and roadways, which contribute to water pollution. FNLC strives to promote sustainable land-use practices, enhance environmental education, and build partnerships to preserve the lake for future generations.
What We Do
Friends of Northern Lake Champlain offers services such as water quality monitoring, educational outreach programs, and advocacy for better environmental policies. They partner with farmers and landowners to implement best practices that reduce nutrient runoff, work on stormwater management projects, and organize community clean-up efforts. FNLC also engages in public education to raise awareness about the importance of preserving the lake’s health and the impact of pollution on the ecosystem.
